September to April is the best surf season in this area, and through winter, the South Atlantic can send some decent size swells charging into the coastline's famed long right-handers with good consistency. Strong northerly winds blow from mid-April and will make a mess of most spots until the northern hemisphere autumn, although there's usually not a lot of swell around this time anyway.
