Surfing North Sumatra

North Sumatra located in west Indonesia is home to world class surfing playgrounds like the Telos Islands, Banyaks, Nias, Simeulue and the Hinakos. The Indian Ocean pumps swell into these destinations all year round with May through to September being the prime months.

The northern Sumatran region is still relatively uncrowded with a massive range of waves to suit all styles of surfer. Plenty of exploration is still going on in the area with surf charter boats becoming a popular way to surf and search this surfing paradise for the perfect wave.
